Today was the visit of the gigantic glacier “Perito Moreno”. Here is therefore another rseries of “land-street” photography

We boarded a bus early in the morning and rode through more windy plains where a few lonely cattle were busy finding some food in the arid ground. (click on pictures to enlarge)

But soon the majestic glacier appeared in the distance, slowly advancing over the lake.

A short boat ride in rough winds …

… and soon we are at the feet of the gigantic blue cliffs.

Leaving some stunned by so much beauty.

Yet, the best was to come. A view on the glacier from the hill facing it. An enormous plain as big as the city of Buenos Aires. Man is so small compared to mother nature.

About 230 km separate El Calafate from Desert Lake located in the middle of the Andes mountain. A long road where street photography opportunities were few, yet the landscape was stunning. Here is therefore the story of a day on the road to Desert Lake (Lago Desierto).

An endless road where we crossed path with two cars during the three hours trip to Desert Lake…

… and a cowboy having a morning horseride with his dog …

… and a dozen yellow trees in the desertic windy plains leading to the Andes.

The Andes suddenly appear and the concrete roads end …

… and a rocky trail has cars bumping around.

The sun disappears behind the clouds and rain starts to pour  …

… yet the trees suddenly turn colorful.

We have reached Desert Lake. Which really deserves its name in the off season…

… making us feel almost lost in the middle of nowhere.  Such a great feeling, isn’t it?

In the middle of nowhere stands Calafate. The cold winds make it impossible for trees to grow in these lonely lands. Yet the town almost looks like a Swiss ski resort, with chalets and streets full of stores. And when I saw this little boy in the back of this 2CV, I thought it was a classic… Paris shot. Time to head to the cold weather of South Argentina. We will be there for a week visiting some glaciers, lakes and the extreme point of the continent. After 4 months of wonderful and hot weather, I hope I don’t get a flu like that car parker in Rosario.  (click on picture to enlarge)

It is Autumn here in Argentina and leaves slowly start to fall off. Time for some poetry. (click on pictures to enlarge)
