Though the last few postings might give that impression, this blog is not converting itself into another Sartorialist ersatz. Don't worry, it is not. Yet Paris is also about fashion and glamour, and therefore represent a theme I like to include in my pictures.
As you might know, the Sartorialist hunt the streets, in search of fashion. Candidness and composition are often secondary to his approach, it is above all about what the person wear, not what she/he expresses or how she/he interacts with others. This is quite the opposite in street photography as these elements are key. This led me to think how a style combining both approaches would be great, though I am sure, extremely challenging to achieve consistently.

You always find some nice portraits. I forgot how larger sensor captures things.
Thanks Olivier, large sensors rule ;) (not always ….)
Hi Yan!
In the sentence "this blog is not converting itself into another Sartorialist ersatz." you use the german word "ersatz". I think you mean substitute, clone or replacement. But it sound very nice.
Best regards
Gerhard
Hi Gerhard, actually ersatz is also used in English and French. It is indeed a German word, but now part of the other languages. The French definition states (put roughly) : copy of inferior quality.
Cheers, Yanick
Thank you Yanick, never heard this before.
Oh I'd be quite happy with a switch, what with this portrait and the recent "Chanel" too. But seriously that is what makes the street genre so interesting, so many possibilities and something for everyone!
